"Between them, Anthony Munoz and Richmond Webb amassed 18 Pro Bowl trips, 11 All-Pro selections, 26 NFL seasons and a widely held reputation as two of the finest left tackles in the past three decades.
Oh, and there's one other thing these two all-time greats hold in common: a deep appreciation and admiration for Miami Dolphins left tackle Jake Long.
"He's tough, physical, smart — that's what I love about him," says Munoz, who carved out his Hall of Fame career from 1980-92 with the Bengals. "There's a couple of guys I watch at left tackle these days. Him and Joe Thomas [of the Browns] are two guys that have come into the league and are doing a tremendous job."
Webb, who spent the first 11 years of his outstanding career with the Dolphins, is a big fan of Long's as well. If anybody has a chance to push Webb of his pedestal as the best to ever play that position in franchise history, it's the third-year man-mountain from Michigan.
"I do enjoy watching him," Webb says. "Great player. He continues to get better and better. It's always good when you can find a guy that can anchor that position and solidify that blind side for you. He's doing a tremendous job."
There's that word again: tremendous.
While Webb's primary job was keeping Dan Marino safe in the second half of his Hall of Fame career, it's probably little coincidence Dolphins quarterback play has improved markedly since Long's arrival as the first overall pick in 2008."
