"For the entire preseason and 10 games of the regular season, Vincent Jackson was like almost anybody else with an interest in the Chargers. He was a spectator.

"There (weren't) too many games I watched," said the prodigal receiver outside the locker room Wednesday afternoon at Chargers Park. "Some of them were blacked out."

Some of the unsold tickets that caused the blackouts may have been attributable to the absence of the Chargers' top wide receiver due to a contract issue, or perhaps disenchantment with the way the whole Jackson impasse went down, or perhaps the way the team was floundering during his hiatus.

Whatever. For his part, after his first practice of the season as an official member of the Chargers, Jackson repeatedly said he was not interested in discussing anything beyond his first game appearance of 2010 on Sunday.

"I'm just getting ready for the Indianapolis Colts," said Jackson. "I'm not worried about anything in the past. I'm moving forward and excited about the game this week."

Any regrets?

"Absolutely not."

Jackson has been able to practice while serving out his three-game stay on the Roster Exempt List but was officially added to the roster Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Chargers have been working all season with a receiving corps that's been devastated by an extraordinary rash of injuries that sidelined Malcom Floyd, Legedu Naanee, Buster Davis, now Patrick Crayton and tight end Antonio Gates. Even so, quarterback Philip Rivers has had an epic season, completing passes to a league-high 15 different receivers."
