"Neither injury, nor stacked defensive fronts could keep Steven Jackson from another Pro Bowl berth.
The veteran running back was the only Rams player selected to the Pro Bowl this season, earning his third berth overall and his second in a row.
"It's well-deserved," coach Steve Spagnuolo said Tuesday night. " I think I speak for the whole team in saying how proud I am of Steven. It's a reflection not only of his hard work, but also the work of his teammates and coaches."
Jackson has 1,196 yards rushing this season, adding to his franchise record with his sixth consecutive 1,000-yard campaign. He passed Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson earlier this season to become the franchise's career leader in rushing yards, and with 97 rushing yards in Sunday's regular-season finale in Seattle can reach 8,000 for his career.
With 344 receiving yards this season, Jackson has 1,540 yards from scrimmage, which ranks second in the NFC.
He has a league-high 361 touches (on 319 carries and 42 receptions), a testament to his durability, especially considering a groin injury which slowed him earlier in the season and a broken finger that he's still playing with. It's rare for running backs to make it through an entire season unscathed, and Jackson's seemingly modest string of 16 consecutive starts is the third-highest active streak for a back in the NFL.
"He's battled through some injuries like only he can do," Spagnuolo said. "We've all grown to appreciate that with Steven.""
