Earlier this month the Croatian international insisted he would not be making any decisions on his future until returning from holiday, after being persistently linked with a move to England.

Rakitic has been in sensational form in La Liga this term, scoring eight goals in 16 league appearances and adding a further six assists to make him statistically the third-ranked player in Spain behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

But it seems the 25-year-old has made up his mind and is keen to carry on at the club, where he is taking the role of captain seriously.

He said: "For the time being, I only think about Sevilla.

"I have important matches ahead of me and additional responsibilities as captain of the team, so leaving is not something I'm considering now."

While failing to rule out a move to England in the future, Rakitic insists that following in the footsteps of former Sevilla teammates Jesus Navas, Alvaro Negredo and Gary Medel is not something that is currently front of his mind.
