“We are very excited to name Romeo the new head coach of the Chiefs,” Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said in a statement Monday morning. “In 30 years as a coach in the National Football League, Romeo has established an outstanding track record of success, and we believe his experience and proven ability make him the best person to help us reach our goal of consistently competing for championships.”

The 64-year-old Crennel seemed the obvious candidate from the time the Chiefs fired Todd Haley and made Crennel interim head coach. He won two of his three games as the interim coach with the victories coming against playoff teams from Green Bay and Denver."
