"Five games into the season, the Broncos just traded their best wide receiver for a conditional sixth-round draft pick to little or no blowback from their fans.
When does this happen?
When everybody knows the team is building for the future, not competing for this year.
So now that it's out in the open, let's entertain the more difficult philosophical question:
Is it OK to tank a season in order to get the No. 1 draft pick and reboot your franchise?
For example, this Sunday's game between Denver and Miami already is being referred to as one of several Luck Bowls on the NFL calendar, so named for Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, the presumptive No. 1 draft pick in April."
