Breana Dodd is a student at the University of Tennessee and a member of Kappa Delta. She became popular on the sports blog scene when Barstool Sports crowned her the ‘hottest college football girlfriend of the season’, and when it comes to the subject of beautiful women Barstool’s opinion shouldn’t be ignored. The award doesn’t come with any monetary awards or trophy but it does attract attention and no doubt helped add to Dodd’s social media following.
The next time the UT student’s name flooded the sports landscape was her controversial Jolly Rancher ad. The ad wasn’t controversial because of anything in Jolly Ranchers #FinalsSuck campaign, but now she is making more endorsement money (above the table) than every NCAA athlete combined. If her boyfriend, Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Josh Smith had taken part in the ad, his scholarship is gone and would be banned by the NCAA.
No one is accusing Dodd of doing anything wrong, she’s a 10 and deserving of Barstool’s high praise and judging by her Instagram feed is well liked and fun to be around. Whether her raised profile as being the girlfriend of an athlete helped or not, you can’t ignore the possibility that it did. She just got caught up in the nonsense that is NCAA policy and helped provide another example of how outdated the current NCAA business model is.
Who knows she might be paving the way for other girlfriends or boyfriends of NCAA athletes to get paid. Instagram is a new revenue stream for beautiful people with lots of followers.
