It has been 17 months since Mark Streit played a game in an Islanders uniform, but it didn't take long for him to jog everyone's memory of how important he can be — especially on the power play.

Streit, the newly named captain, had a goal and an assist on the man advantage — and added an even-strength assist — in the Islanders' 6-2 preseason win over the Devils last night at the Coliseum.

Streit, 33, missed all of last season after suffering a shoulder injury in training camp that eventually required surgery. He returned this offseason, was handed the 'C' and has already started to thrive in his first preseason game, the team's second.
