The Jim Caldwell watch goes on.

Caldwell traveled back to town this morning after a short getaway, but the Detroit Lions' coach still hasn't heard whether he'll return for a third season with the team.

Caldwell has spoken by telephone with new Lions general manager Bob Quinn, Fritz Pollard Alliance chairman John Wooten said, but the two have not met in person since the Lions hired Quinn on Friday.

Quinn will be in town for a 2 p.m. Monday news conference to be introduced as GM, and he's expected to meet with Caldwell sometime Monday. Caldwell was in the building this morning, though it wasn't immediately clear whether he met with Quinn.

Ernie Accorsi, who consulted on the Lions' GM search and is staying on as an adviser to team president Rod Wood, said he is not involved in the decision with whether to keep Caldwell as coach.
