"Daymond Langkow is back in Calgary, but how soon he'll be back in the Flames lineup remains unknown.
The 33-year-old second-line centre was decked out in a full neck brace Monday after being released from a St. Paul Hospital, where he underwent a battery of tests Sunday night after he was taken off the ice on a stretcher during the second period of the afternoon game against the Minnesota Wild.
"I'm fine," he told Herald reporter Vicki Hall before he boarded a plane at the St. Paul-Minneapolis International Airport. "I'm OK. I'll be down at the rink (today) or the next day, so maybe we can set up something to talk to everyone then."
Langkow was struck by a puck near the base of the back of his neck before appearing to land fully on the back of his head as he fell awkwardly to the ice.
"That was scary," said veteran centre Craig Conroy, one a few Flames to surface for Monday's optional workout at the Pengrowth Saddledome. "I went out and looked, saw his face and it was like, 'whoah, I think I'm going to get back out of here.'
"But it's great news that he's OK, that he's coming home. It was scary, though. You just don't know. Just an inch and maybe the puck would have hit him on top of the helmet, then great, but just where it catches him. Then to hear he's fine, walking around, that's a great sign."
Langkow is the third starter to be felled by injury in the past two weeks, joining left- wingers Chris Higgins (foot) and Curtis Glencross (knee) in injury bay."
