Injury, anger and distractions aren't enough to stop Harvin

"Things couldn't have gone much worse for Percy Harvin last week, but the Vikings wide receiver overcame anger, injury and off-the-field distractions Sunday.

Playing on a badly sprained left ankle, Harvin set career highs in catches (nine) and receiving yards (126) in a 27-24 overtime victory against visiting Arizona.

Harvin finished with 214 combined net yards, the fourth time in his career that he's eclipsed 200 yards in a game, which tied a team record.

Afterward, Harvin also tried to clear the air over his verbal altercation with coach Brad Childress on Friday.

"We had a little dispute," Harvin said. "It wasn't what people thought it was about. It was about whether I was going to get an MRI or not. It was a little dispute, but we settled it. Me and Coach are fine."

Harvin missed practice Wednesday and Thursday because of his ankle injury and was "extremely limited" on Friday, according to Childress. The two had a heated exchange during practice Friday because Childress wanted Harvin to have an MRI on his ankle and Harvin refused.

"I just didn't think nothing was significantly wrong with it," Harvin said. "I just didn't want to go."

Asked why he resisted, Harvin said: "It was a little sore, but I was able to put weight on it. I knew if I had two more days of rehabbing it, I would be able to go. ... I told Coach that I've got confidence in my body. I know my body. It was just a thing of me saying I know myself and him looking out for me. That's all it was."

Harvin eventually had an MRI on Saturday morning, saying it revealed no serious damage. Childress denied reports that the argument started after he questioned Harvin's effort. He said his frustration was not related to the team's decision to cut Randy Moss on Monday.

Childress said he talked to Harvin for 15 minutes in the locker room before the game.

"We're playing an emotional game with emotional people," Childress said. "It's part of what makes him good. Tempers can raise every now and then.""
