The Cleveland Indians have signed pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka to a minor-league deal, according to Jon Heyman. Yesterday, the team added Jason Giambi to a similar deal that will pay the veteran $750,000 if he makes the team.

Dice-K, who underwent Tommy John surgery in June of 2011, pitched in 11 games for the Red Sox last season, compiling a 1-7 record with a 8.28 ERA, 5.94 FIP and 4.84 xFIP. He did however show signs of his former self in his sixth start, throwing seven innings against the Royals in late August, allowing just one unearned run while striking out six.

Over his career for the Red Sox, he recorded a 4.52 ERA, 4.37 FIP and 10.5 combined fWAR in 117 appearances, 116 them being starts.
