The Indians, who haven't given a player a contract extension since Roberto Hernandez was known as Fausto Carmona, reached agreement with All-Star shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera on a two-year extension which will keep him in Cleveland through 2014.

The team has yet to confirm the extension, but another source did. The deal is reportedly worth $16.5 million. Cabrera signed a one-year, $4.55 million deal over the winter to avoid arbitration.
