"Almost every year, one or more Indians players undergo surgery that wasn't indicated by anything that happened during the season.
Neither Justin Masterson nor any Tribe official previously offered information about an injury to the right-hander, but on Wednesday he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder in Wilmington, Del. Dr. Craig Morgan performed the procedure to repair a posterior labral tear in his nonthrowing shoulder.
According to the Tribe, Masterson is "expected to be without restrictions" when the season opens April 5. The club did not address whether he would be up to speed when spring training begins."
