Illinois guard Kendrick Nunn was named the Big Ten's freshman of the week Monday.

Nunn, a Simeon graduate, scored a game-high 19 points in Wednesday's victory at Minnesota. He made a career-high five 3-pointers, which was the most for any Illini player this season.

Since being inserted into the starting lineup, Nunn is averaging 13 points per game.

The honor is the first for Illinois this season.
