"Andre Iguodala insists his statement was "kind of taken out of context."
Despite declining to tell the media he wanted to remain a 76er on April 28, the day after the Miami Heat eliminated the Sixers from the playoffs, and then skipping an exit interview with team officials, Iguodala now says he doesn't want to be traded.
"I definitely enjoy being here," Iguodala told csnphilly.com during a basketball camp in Philadelphia on Saturday. "Whatever happens is going to happen. That's why I made the statement when the season was over that 'I'm just happy to be playing in the NBA.'
"That's my childhood dream. It was kind of taken out of context. Who wouldn't want to live that dream? So why worry about things that I can't control?"
Iguodala said he spoke with teammate Evan Turner last Friday night about things the two can do together to make the Sixers better and themselves more effective. Iguodala and Turner, the No. 2 overall draft pick in 2010, appear to have similar skill sets, which is one of the reasons the Sixers have considered trading Iguodala."
