Even before New Orleans Hornets rookie forward Anthony Davis headed to the London Olympics last month as a replacement for injured Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin, Coach Monty Williams predicted it would enhance his development quicker.

On Sunday, Davis became the youngest basketball gold medalist in U.S. Olympic history when Team USA defeated Spain 107-100.

Although Davis played sparingly, he averaged 4.3 points. Perhaps just as valuable as his minutes off the bench, Davis was embraced by Team USA stars Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, whom he apparently gained respect from after emerging in practices.

``Any time you get a chance to play around all that talent, I don't care who you are, it's going to have a positive impact on you,'' Williams said.
