Houshmandzadeh's step up in Seattle: Now he's the No. 1 guy

"T.J. Houshmandzadeh likes it here. And the Seattle Seahawks like having him here.

"And that pretty much says it all," the wide receiver says after a recent training camp practice here outside the glistening team facilities surrounded by woods and water.

"The views here are spectacular, as you can see. There's a lot to like."

Houshmandzadeh, who spent eight seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, also likes the fact that he no longer labors under the shadow of a former teammate Chad Ochocinco.

Yes, Ochocinco's presence helped clear resistance for Houshmandzadeh, and that's one reason he's the only receiver in the league to have caught at least 90 passes the past three seasons. But when he signed with the Seahawks as a free agent, he liked the fact that he became the No. 1 target.

"It's a different role in some ways," he says, "but really, you're gonna do your thing regardless. And I like that."

Toward that end, Houshmandzadeh says he likes a lot of other things about his new address.

Perhaps the most enjoyable thing is the approach of first-year offensive coordinator Greg Knapp- especially during meetings.

"He makes it fun, he's interactive," Houshmandzadeh says. "… You don't get bored, you don't fall asleep, because he gets everybody involved in the way he teaches and why he's installing a certain play, you learn a lot. … He does a really good job of explaining.""
