"On the hiring of Josh Hamilton's father-in-law as his accountability partner:
Fraley: I think it's a terrible hire for the rest of the team. I understand that Josh needs the accountability partner, which Johnny Narron did in addition to being an assistant hitting coach, and a very good one at that. But bringing his father-in-law in, I'm sure it's well-intentioned, but you're opening Pandora's box. If I'm a player, I'd say, "Hey, I'd like my brother to come along and be my masseuse." Or Yu Darvish signs, "I want my father here to help me navigate a strange country." I just think you're inviting a whole bunch of headaches that this team doesn't need. This is also a quality team in terms of its internal dynamic, but I think you're altering that internal dynamic by bringing in a family member. I saw how badly this worked out in St. Louis when Chris Duncan, who's father Dave Duncan was the pitching coach, was on the team but really wasn't a big league player. It caused a lot of problems for Chris Duncan. I'm not saying it's going to cause a lot of problems here, but it's just not a good situation."
