Jason Heyward returned to Atlanta early Wednesday morning with the feeling that he is immediately ready to rejoin the Braves' lineup.

According to a baseball source, Heyward planned to tell the Braves he was ready to play Wednesday night's game against the Mets at Turner Field. The 21-year-old right fielder will likely need to first prove he is ready by taking some swings and running in the outfield.

Heyward has been on the disabled list since May 22 because of right shoulder inflammation. He battled right shoulder discomfort for more than two months before finally realizing some relief while rehabbing at the Braves' Spring Training complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
