"The Braves got encouraging news Friday when right fielder Jason Heyward hit off a tee and did other "baseball activities" without discomfort in his right shoulder.
He's been on the disabled list since since May 22 with inflammation of the labrum in his non-throwing shoulder, and has rehabbed and worked out more than a week at the team's training complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
But Friday was the first time he swung a bat in nearly three weeks.
The Braves will wait to see how he feels Saturday before ramping up his rehab schedule. Within a few days he could possibly take batting practice and hit in extended-spring training games in Florida, but the Braves won't bring him back until Heyward feels he's healthy."
