Manchester United target Ander Herrera has cooled speculation that a New Year move to Old Trafford could be on the cards by declaring that Athletic Bilbao is the "perfect place" for him.

The Premier League champions failed in a summer move to sign Herrera after imposters claiming to be his lawyers spoiled the deal.

It has been reported that David Moyes will go back for the Spaniard when the transfer window opens in January - but the 24-year-old says he is happy where he is.

He told Canal Plus Spain: "I appreciate very much that Manchester United made a very important offer for me and also that Athletic did not accept it.

"That means that Athletic value me above money and trust in their project more than a large offer.
