Heat's Chris Bosh a quitter? No way says Hedo Turkoglu

"Days after Toronto Raptors General Manager Bryan Colangelo questioned last season's commitment by Miami Heat free-agent acquisition Chris Bosh, a former Raptors teammate has rallied to Bosh's defense.

Forward Hedo Turkoglu, acquired last month by the Phoenix Suns from the Raptors, told Fox Sports Arizona that organizational issues in Toronto created the unease.

"People have to realize something is wrong with that organization and nobody wants to go there anymore," Turkoglu told the sports network in a phone interview from his native Turkey. "It's not just the players who see this."

In an interview on a Toronto radio station last week, Colangelo hinted that Bosh already had made his decision to leave the Raptors before the end of the 2009-10 NBA season.

"Whether he was mentally checked out or just wasn't quite into it down the stretch, he wasn't the same guy," Colangelo said. "I think everybody saw that, but no one wanted to acknowledge it."

Bosh, who was acquired last month by the Heat along with Cleveland Cavaliers free-agent forward LeBron James to join a three-star core than also includes Heat guard Dwyane Wade, then appeared on a Canada cable outlet to refute that claim.

"I play this game as hard as I can every time I step on the court," Bosh told Rogers SportsNet.

Amid those simmering differences entered Turkoglu, who had an uneven lone season in Toronto in 2009-10 after being acquired last summer from the Orlando Magic.

Turkoglu said he was taken aback by Colangelo so publicly taking issue with a former member of the organization, especially in light of Bosh's successful seasons with the Raptors."
