Hawks' Sharp 'humbled to be going' to All-Star Game

"Forward Patrick Sharp figured the voicemail Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman left on his phone Tuesday was either really good news or really bad news.

"I didn't know whether to check it to see if I was getting traded .??.??. or if it was good news," Sharp said. "Thankfully, it was good news."

The good news was that Sharp was one of 36 players the NHL named to its All-Star Game on Jan. 30 in Raleigh, N.C. Six already had been voted in by the fans.

Sharp joins winger Patrick Kane, who also made the cut, and center Jonathan Toews and defenseman Duncan Keith, who were voted in by the fans, as the Hawks' representatives. Coach Joel Quenneville and assistant Mike Haviland will coach one of the teams.

The better news is that the NHL got it right after snubbing Sharp on Nov. 12 by not having his name on the All-Star ballot."
