Gustavo Ayon will miss four to eight weeks after an MRI exam Tuesday revealed the forward/center has inflammation and a rotator cuff strain. Ayon injured his right shoulder in the first quarter of Monday's exhibition game against the Heat in Miami. While the Hawks travelled to Asheville N.C. for Tuesday's exhibition game against the Bobcats Ayon returned for Atlanta for the MRI.

The 6-foot-10 Ayon who the Hawks claimed off waivers from the Bucks during the offseason has had an injury plagued career. He has played 109 games over two seasons with three teams.

“Last season was too much injury" Ayon said at the Hawks media day event to kick off training camp. "First I broke my toe next month my knee. Every time (it was something).”

Ayon was named the MVP as he helped Mexico to the FIBA Americas tournament championship this summer.

In other injury news an MRI exam done on the lower back of John Jenkins was negative. Dr. Michael Bernot at Peachtree Orthopedics in Atlanta confirmed his low back muscle pain. The shooting guard did not travel with the team on the two-game road trip after experiencing spasms. He will be listed as day-to-day. Jenkins missed two months prior to training camp with a back injury.

Lou Williams is on the trip to continue his rehab from a torn right ACL. Following shootaround he was involved in a two-on-two game.

As for tonight's exhibition game against the Bobcats Budenholzer said to expect some different player rotations than he used in Miami in last night's 92-87 loss to the Heat. Several players did not play in that game and should get playing time tonight. Those available players who did not play were Elton Brand David Lighthy Royal Ivey and Damien Wilkins. Budenholzer would not get specific about the rotation or which players would not play.
