Hatem Ben Arfa’s has revealed he almost cried with joy at completing his deadline day move to Hull City as many Newcastle United fans turned on manager Alan Pardew for failing to heal a rift with his most talented player or insert a recall clause in the loan deal.
Despite freezing Ben Arfa out of the first team and forcing him to train with the reserves following a series of clashes last season, the moody Frenchman has remained a thorn in Pardew’s side throughout the summer because of his popularity with supporters.
Ben Arfa’s omission from the first team squad at the end of last season had already seen many fans take the player’s side in his clash with Pardew, even though many of his teammates were also fed up with the former Marseille man’s antics.
Newcastle’s willingness to let Ben Arfa join Hull City just hours before the deadline has re-opened an old wound, particularly as Telegraph Sport has been told there is no recall option, which effectively means the 27-year-old has played his last game for Newcastle.
There is no doubt Pardew has forced the France international to leave as he no longer has a working relationship with a player who has fallen out with managers throughout his career.
