"Even though things might be looking bleak for the Angels and their fans, with the club chasing Texas in the American League West, Dan Haren's still happy to be in Anaheim.
The Angels' newest acquisition said the weight on his shoulders has been lifted now that he's part of a staff with guys like Jered Weaver and Ervin Santana.
"It's fun being a part of this staff. In Arizona, I had to take the ball on Opening Day and a lot was expected of me - not that a lot isn't expected of me here," he said. "But it's nice to have guys you can lean on."
Haren rejoined the Angels after spending Wednesday night and Thursday with his family in Arizona. Haren's prepared to not see much of them for the final months of the season.
"The tough part is with family," he said. "Obviously, I want to see my wife and kids, and I'll be on the road, really, for the next two months. I wanted to spend time with my family and prepare myself for the next couple of months."
Haren will make his second start with the Angels Saturday against Texas. His first start on Monday ended prematurely when Kevin Youklis lined a pitch back up the middle, bruising his forearm."
