The Rockets could be facing a shortage in the backcourt, depending on how James Harden and Aaron Brooks respond to injuries in the next few days. Harden missed a second consecutive game and is considered day-to-day. Brooks left Monday’s game with a bruised right thigh. Both would be questionable to play Wednesday.

The Rockets could be getting some help back. Forward Ronnie Brewer has stepped up his workouts and will test his strained right calf Tuesday

“They want me to get a full practice, but I went through shootaround, felt pretty good, no problems,” Brewer said. “I’m going to practice (Tuesday) and play the next one.

“It’s frustrating when any athlete has to sit out. You want to help your team out, especially after a loss. You want to be part of the wins, too. You can tell your team is out there having fun. I’m just trying to get back as quick as possible and if my name is called, be ready to play.”
