If John Harbaugh has his way, both Jimmy Smith and Torrey Smith will receive long-term contracts in the not-too-distant future. Speaking at the NFL owners meetings in Orlando, Harbaugh said the Ravens would exercise a fifth-year contract option on Jimmy Smith before the May 3 deadline. Smith is coming off his best season, and the Ravens believe he has the talent to be a Pro Bowl cornerback.

“We have no doubt we will be investing the option in Jimmy when the time comes,” Harbaugh said, according to a transcript provided by the Pro Football Writers of America. “We are hopeful that we can sign Jimmy long-term. That will be our goal.”

Harbaugh also said he would like Torrey Smith under contract long-term. He is coming off his first 1,000-yard season as a wide receiver, and he is heading into the final season of a four-year, $3.39 million deal.
