"All it took was a good practice from Indiana Pacers forward Tyler Hansbrough for coach Jim O'Brien to change his mind on the second-year player's playing time.
Hansbrough practiced well Thursday, then followed it up with a good performance against the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday night. He played well again Saturday in the home opener against the Philadelphia 76ers, scoring nine points and grabbing seven rebounds in 23 minutes.
Now O'Brien says he will make sure there's a place for the second-year player.
"We are going to find a way to get him on the court every game out," O'Brien said. "He's picking up everything and he's playing hard. You can't negate the impact he has on the team."
Hansbrough got 12 points, four rebounds, two steals and a block in 20 minutes against the Bobcats, a day after O'Brien said he was behind offensively.
"We limited the package of plays that we ran when he was in," O'Brien said prior to Saturday's game. "We put him in the position that he did not have to handle the basketball from the standpoint of passing."
