Hanley Ramirez says SS spot his until further notice; Cespedes impresses in workout

"Hanley Ramirez was among several players who made their final appearance as members of the Florida Marlins Thursday night. At the site of new ballpark for the Fish and Chips fundraiser for the Florida Marlins Community Foundation, Ramirez was asked about the Marlins courting friend and fellow National League All-Star shortstop Jose Reyes.

Ramirez, who will take part in Friday's Miami Marlins unveiling, would love to share the same uniform with Reyes, saying: "He's a pretty good player and I think the organization needs him. Otherwise, what can I say?"

That last part was a reference to switching positions. Ramirez fell short of saying he would happily move to third to accommodate Reyes. His exact words:

"You know, I'm a shortstop right now, so I don't know. I consider myself a shortstop. Definitely, we want to win. I think that would be a good move for the Marlins if they want to improve."

Could Ramirez have left less to interpretation? Absolutely. Some may construe his comments to mean he won't move without some kicking and screaming. Not sure that's the case. My interpretation of Ramirez's comments: I'm the shortstop. Nobody has told me differently. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it if asked to switch."
