The defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks kept hopes alive at the United Center after fending off the Kings in an elimination game, beating the Kings 5-4 in double overtime.
Michal Handzus, an unlikely character, scored the game-winner shortly into the second period. He took a perfect pass from Brandon Saad past Jonathan Quick.
Game 6 takes place Friday in Los Angeles with the Kings leading the Western Conference finals 3-2.
