"Roy Halladay was throwing a baseball back and forth with teammate Kyle Kendrick in right field roughly two hours before he was slated to climb the mound at Citizens Bank Park for Sunday's series finale against the Washington Nationals.
By that time, the game had been rained out, the two pitchers were solitary figures doing between-games work and Halladay's start had been moved to Tuesday, when the National League West-leading Arizona Diamondbacks arrive here for the start of a three-game set.
Halladay's bid to become the National League's first 16-game winner must wait until then. If the season ended today, the Phillies and Diamondbacks would be National League Division Series opponents, making the series a potential playoff preview.
The Phillies and Nationals are off today, one of just three remaining such breaks for each before the end of the regular season Sept. 28. But they preferred to make up Sunday's rainout on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 1:05 p.m., as part of a day-night doubleheader at Citizens Bank Park.
Tickets for Sunday's game will be honored then. The regularly scheduled game of what is now a four-game series ending Sept. 22 follows at 7:05.
The unveiling of a statue of renowned Phillies broadcaster Harry Kalas, scheduled for Sunday, will now take place at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday. It will be located on the Main Concourse at Section 141 near Harry the K's.
The Nationals aren't free from Halladay, however, as they'll likely see him this Sunday in the finale of a three-game series against the Phillies at Nationals Park."
