The standards are different for Roy Halladay, so mediocrity is a red flag.

But since spring training, both Halladay and the Phillies have downplayed concerns that an injury might be sapping some of his velocity or hampering his performance on the mound.

On Sunday, however, it was all too clear.

Halladay left Sunday's 8-3 loss to St. Louis after just two innings, a result of shoulder soreness that has been bothering him for at least the past few weeks.
