Something possibly connected to Aaron Hernandez has been found and it’s a lot more serious than another letter from the former New England Patriots tight end.

Massachusetts State Police have recovered a gun they say is linked to an unsolved double slaying in Boston which police are investigating for a possible link to Hernandez CBS3 in Springfield reported Monday.

The weapon was discovered in the car of Jailene Diaz-Ramos of Bristol Conn. after she was involved in an accident in June. It’s not clear what if any connection Diaz-Ramos has to Hernandez. She told police the gun was among the belongings left in her car after she gave a ride to some “football players” whose names she didn’t know court documents say.

Ballistics tests show the gun is the same one used in July 2012 when Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado were fatally shot outside a Boston club CBS3 said. The two were hit by fire from an SUV with Rhode Island plates a vehicle resembling one towed from Hernandez’s uncle’s home in Bristol. The shooting reportedly followed an altercation in the club between Hernandez and his group and some other men.
