"Undisclosed injuries prevented winger Bill Guerin and defenseman Alex Goligoski from playing for the Penguins against the New York Rangers on Monday night. Guerin had appeared in each of the Penguins' previous 53 games. Goligoski has appeared in 22 straight games since missing 10 of 11 from Nov. 16-Dec. 7. He has recorded only seven assists since returning after posting six goals and 14 points before he was injured.
Forward Chris Conner was recalled from AHL affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to replace Guerin in the lineup. He previously appeared in six games from Oct. 30-Nov. 12, recording one assist in those contests. He played last night on a line with center Sidney Crosby and winger Pascal Dupuis; Conner scored his first goal in 11 NHL games dating to March 30 as a member of the Dallas Stars.
Defenseman Martin Skoula replaced Goligoski in the lineup and was partnered with Jay McKee. Skoula had been a healthy scratch in eight consecutive games after appearing in eight of nine prior contests.
Winger Eric Godard did not return against the Rangers after playing just 43 seconds in the opening period. The nature of his injury was not disclosed by the team.•
Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury wore a glove with extra padding for his first start since his left ring finger was broken Jan. 14 at Edmonton. His first glove save last night came at 9:45 of the opening period on a shot by Rangers defenseman Michael Del Zotto."
