Greinke sets mark with his first nine Miller Park decisions

"During a season in which the Milwaukee Brewers have posted a remarkable .758 winning percentage at home, Zack Greinke has been even better.

He hasn't lost even once.

Greinke became the first Brewers pitcher to win his first nine home decisions by tossing seven strong innings Wednesday night in a 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers before a sellout crowd of 42,804 at Miller Park.

By running their record to 6-0 on this home stand, the Brewers boosted their home record to an incredible 47-15, including 18 wins in the last 20 games and seven in a row. Overall, they have won 19 of 21 to go 22 games over .500 (73-51) and maintain a seven-game lead over St. Louis in the NL Central.

"It's definitely not locked up now, but it's on us mainly," said Greinke, who boosted his record to 12-4. "We've just got to keep doing as good as we're doing or at least close to that and make it as tough as possible for other teams.

"But it is ours to lose, I think, as of right now."

Greinke blanked the Dodgers until former Brewers outfielder Tony Gwynn Jr. socked his first home run of the season with two down in the seventh. It was only the fifth hit allowed by Greinke, who walked three and struck out eight.

By turning in his eighth consecutive quality start, Greinke lowered his earned run average to 3.92, an impressive feat considering it stood at 5.63 entering July.

"That was my goal for a while," said Greinke, who allowed the Brewers to establish a franchise record by allowing one run or fewer for five consecutive games.

"I'm finally catching up to these (other starters). They've been making great starts, too, and making it even harder. So, I've still got a ways to go to catch some of them.""
