At the conclusion of practice, Pistons assistant coach John Loyer gathered the young veterans, rookies and rookie free agents who compose the summer-league roster at midcourt of the Barnett Park Recreation Center.

Loyer's first order of business was to thank Greg Monroe, Jason Maxiell and Charlie Villanueva for coming to Florida to practice with the young players and help them start getting acclimated to life in the NBA.

"I really appreciate the veterans we've had," Loyer said Sunday. "Those guys really set the tone. It was terrific from a teaching standpoint and really gave our young guys a good example.

"Coaches demonstrating stuff is a lot different from veterans, so it was a good camp."
