" Rangers beat writer Evan Grant answered your questions in a chat Friday. Here are some highlights.
jake asks ... Were you surprised that Blanco's teammates didn't do more to support him after Ty Wiggington basically pushed him off the field last night? Shouldn't have Colby Lewis at least put one under Wiggington's chin? This lack of fire from the Rangers is baffling, especially considering the lack of success on the field.
Evan Grant: If you ask me, and this is just from watching on TV, Andres Blanco was in the wrong to mouth off at Ty Wigginton last night. On TV, the replay looked quite clean. Why Blanco got upset, I'm not sure. Once Wigginton, however, decided to start doing the umpires' job and telling Blanco to get off the field, there were some players and umpires to interject. All in all, not much of anything.
And the fire issue is one I don't get sometimes. Were the Rangers lacking in fire when they won 11 straight? When they came back from 8-2 against Boston last week? When a team loses, it's easy to say it lacks fire. That's not the case. The Rangers currently lack healthy bodies in the thick of their lineup. That's what has their pilot light flickering.
Lee asks ... Any chance we see Scheppers make a bullpen debut before the end of the season? The current relievers are obviously becoming strained.
Evan Grant: It does look like the bullpen is getting a little fatigued right now, but this is the time when everybody's bullpen gets fatigued. I still expect to see Tanner Scheppers this season, though my prediction of August 9 was off. I think it will be after September 1, when rosters can be expanded.
Matthew asks ... So it appears the one player the Rangers can't win without is Ian? "
