Granger leads Pacers to rare 3-0 start

"The Indiana Pacers got served a dose of reality in the form of a scrappy, energetic Cleveland Cavaliers team Friday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

But when it was all said and done, the Pacers had one of their strongest defensive quarters in years, mixed in with some luck at the end of regulation to move to 3-0 for the first time in four years.

The Pacers withstood being bullied around for the first 24 minutes to pull out a 98-91 victory over the Cavaliers in front of 13,004 fans.

"We knew they were a good team despite what their record was last year," Pacers forward Danny Granger said. "They came in and we kind of took them for granted. They were beating us up the first half.

"I think in the second half we woke up. We dodged some bullets and got the win in overtime."

Granger, who scored 22 points on just 8-of-22 shooting, carried the Pacers in overtime -- and outscored Cleveland 9-7 in the process.

He scored five of his overtime points during a 7-0 Pacers run to give them a 93-87 lead.

The Pacers will have a chance to move to 4-0 for the first time since 2004 tonight when they travel to Detroit to take on the Pistons."
