Granderson is singing 0-fer blues

"Through the first 54 games this season, Curtis Granderson had two games where he racked up three strikeouts, but then came the last five games.

Two more games with three strikeouts.

Granderson, who has been the Yankees' best player, is in a pretty severe slump. Granderson went 0-for-5 in last night's 11-6 loss to the Red Sox at the Stadium, and he's now in a 2-for-25 rut. In those 25 at-bats, he's struck out 12 times.

"Just baseball," Granderson said before the game and adding that there was nothing he could point to as a reason for his recent struggles.

To be fair, Granderson has had six rough games, not 30 rough games, but he also has just one homer in his last 14 games, which could be a little more worrisome for the Yankees.

Granderson is hitless in the Red Sox series, going 0-for-9 with five strikeouts. In the two earlier series this year against the Sox, he went 7-for-23 with two homers, five RBIs and three walks.

Last night, Granderson popped out to left in the first inning, grounded out to first base in consecutive at-bats in the third and fifth. He whiffed in the seventh against Alfredo Aceves, making it eight straight games that he's fanned at least once, and struck out again in the ninth against Aceves."
