Alex Gordon continued his spring surge Saturday afternoon with three hits and six RBIs in leading the Royals to a 19-7 clubbing of a Los Angeles Dodgers split squad at Surprise Stadium.
Gordon had a two-run single in a four-run third inning and an RBI double in a six-run fourth before unloading a mammoth three-run homer in the seventh. The homer flew into a party tent beyond the grass berm beyond the right-field bullpen.
"It felt good," Gordon said. "The wind makes it fly here in Arizona, but it felt good."
The Royals, 10-5-1, had a 20-hit attack. Clint Robinson and Manny Piña hit two-run homers, while Melky Cabrera added two hits and three RBIs to his sizzling spring.
