Gilbert Arenas explains why he sat out Friday's game

"For the second time this month, the Orlando Magic's shootaround was too much for Gilbert Arenas' left calf and he was scratched from the lineup hours before gametime.

Arenas' left calf was too tight to play Friday night against the Denver Nuggets.

His calf occasionally tightens up as a result of muscle weakening from his three knee surgeries. He missed the Magic's March 1 game against the New York Knicks with the same condition.

"It was a rough practice," Arenas said after Friday's game. "It just didn't recover after practice today. We went for about an hour, two hours."

Arenas participated in Friday morning's shootaround - err, practice, as he jokingly calls Stan Van Gundy's shootaround sessions - and expected to play early in the afternoon. But as the game approached, he couldn't get the muscles to loosen up, he said."
