The Giants are still hopeful of re-signing Jon Beason, but that won't stop them from looking for linebacker help someplace else.

Their first step will be to meet with former Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain, who told reporters in Buffalo that he expects to meet with the Giants Thursday. The 28-year-old McClain was released by the Ravens last Wednesday in what was at least in part a cost-cutting move.

His visit with the Giants is scheduled for Thursday, according to an NFL source. And along with the Buffalo Bills and the Giants, he still plans to meet with several other teams.

McClain has played both inside and outside linebacker for the Ravens, so his visit with the Giants isn't necessarily tied to Beason's situation.
