"One of the lasting images from the Giants' overtime victory Sunday in the NFC Championship Game, as captured by Fox's cameras, will be punter Steve Weatherford's profanity-laden celebration after getting down the hold on Lawrence Tynes' game-winning field goal against the 49ers.
But you didn't have to be a lip reader to interpret Weatherford's remarks Tuesday about longtime Jets special-teams coach Mike Westhoff as he began preparing for the first Super Bowl trip of his career.
"I'm glad it's with this franchise and I'm glad it's now," said Weatherford, whose season ended in the AFC Championship Game the previous two seasons with the Jets. "This is definitely my best season, for sure. I think I'm playing well at the right time. I think I've had a strong season. ... A lot of it has to do with playing for (special teams coach) Tom Quinn and being comfortable and confident and strong."
