Giancarlo Stanton, speaking at his introductory New York Yankees press conference on Monday, said all of the things that his new team wanted to hear. So did his agent.

Stanton, acquired from the Miami Marlins for veteran second baseman Starlin Castro and prospects Jorge Guzman and Jose Devers, seemed eager to don pinstripes for the first time. He spoke about playing where manager Aaron Boone needed him, hitting in the spot that best serves the Yanks and expressed general excitement to join New York’s young, powerful nucleus. His agent, Joel Wolfe, meanwhile, delivered music to the Yankees’ ears in regards to the slugger’s contract.

“He has no desire to opt out,” the agent told reporters of Stanton’s player option following the 2020 season.
