Outfielder Giancarlo Stanton apparently is about to start his rehab assignment.

Stanton, out since April 30 with a strained right hamstring, will join the Class A Jupiter Hammerheads tonight, according to the Hammerheads.

On Monday, Marlins manager Mike Redmond said only that Stanton planned to do baserunning drills in Jupiter on Monday. Redmond yesterday did not have a timetable for when Stanton would start his rehab stint.

According to the Hammerheads, Stanton is expected to DH tonight and bat third in game one
of the Hammerheads’ double-header with the Clearwater Threshers.

Stanton hit a career-high 37 home runs in 123 games with the Marlins last season,
while posting a Major League-best .608 slugging percentage and earning his first All-Star Game appearance.

Marlins’ first baseman Joe Mahoney and second baseman Donovan Solano will also join the
Hammerheads tonight on Major League rehab assignment.
