"Grizzlies forward Rudy Gay is beyond antsy sitting on the bench in street clothes, but sudden movements make his injured left shoulder hurt.
The small forward is hoping an MRI exam Monday will explain why. Gay is somewhat concerned that the results might not allow him to return to practice this week.
"At first it was aching," Gay said. "Now it's sudden movements that give me pain. Neither is good, I guess. I just hope to see some changes. There's still some pain there, so I'd like to know why."
Gay missed his 10th straight game Saturday afternoon when the Griz lost to the Miami Heat. This week essentially marks a month since Gay suffered a partially separated shoulder.
Team doctors initially said Gay's re-evaluation would happen in four weeks."
