Gang looks to stop explosive Jackson

"Every day this week, special-teams coach Mike Westhoff has shown his punt-coverage team video of what DeSean Jackson is capable of doing.

It's a video of Jackson's game-winning punt return for a touchdown against the Giants about this time last year, an electrifying 65-yard sprint to the end zone with no time left that capped a miraculous 28-point fourth-quarter comeback and wrecked the Giants' postseason hopes.

"It's just to remind us that if we're not on point what he can do," said special teamer Josh Mauga. "[Westhoff] has shown that to us pretty much every day this week."

The thought of the speedy Jackson breaking free on a kick return or scoring on a big pass play is enough to cause queasy stomachs and sleepless nights. Despite the difficult season he and the Eagles have endured, the Jets are preparing to get his best effort tomorrow when the two teams meet in Philadelphia.

The Jets (8-5) must win to maintain control of their own destiny in hopes of qualifying for the playoffs, while the Eagles (5-8) are winding down a miserable year of unfulfilled promise. Jackson has been the poster-child of Philadelphia's underachieving Eagles. Unhappy he hasn't signed to a contract similar to the five-year, $50 million package the Jets gave Santonio Holmes, Jackson has been criticized for giving less than 100 percent during games. He also has battled injuries.

But after spending day after day watching Jackson burn the Giants in 2010, the Jets are fully aware of what he can do on a football field.

"I know it's a lot of pressure on him," said cornerback Darrelle Revis, who will likely be matched against Jackson for much of the game. "I know about the whole [contract] situation, but I'm not going to comment on that. He's a good receiver and he's an explosive receiver. He makes plays out on the field. When you're playing him you've got to key him all times.""
