"Jacksonville Jaguars rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert will start Thursday's preseason opener against New England as David Garrard continues to rest an ailing back.

Garrard left practice last Thursday after his back tightened up, an injury that Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio termed "nothing major" at the time."
